An Unrhymed Poem by Khan Dadash
Translated from the original Persian post. Images, if present, are from that post or thread.

A poem from Khan Dadash’s heart, full of things to say, though it has no rhyme.
How beautiful it is to walk, yet today there are no streets in my city.
There are no cups in the city café, no tea.
The street sweeper stands alone. There is dust, but no broom.
The train station is full of empty trains, but no passengers.
Ordibehesht has come, but no tree has leaves or blossoms.
I hear the school principal say hello, but there are no students…
In the meadow beyond the city, children hold kites, but there is not even wind.
Its taverns are open, but no one is drunk.
The musicians play in perfect time, yet there is no sound.
The bakery is open and the line is long, but there is no flour.
The boats in the harbor are loaded and ready, but there is no water in the sea.
The city’s theater actors dance, but there is no audience.
The men of the city stretch out their hands, but no one takes them.
The children of my city do not laugh, because there is no sweet candy.
Shadows have no meaning, because there is no sun in this city’s sky.
Kidneys, hearts, and eyes are for sale, but there are no buyers.
The city sky is gray, and there is no rainbow.
The library is just nearby, but there is no book on any shelf.
You ask why the city is here, but nothing is here?
Because the throne is here, but its Shah is not…
My fellow Iranian, my friend, a piece of my own flesh… With you and me standing as this city, there is no end to hope and to light’s victory over darkness…
Take my hand and shout that there is no time left to wait…
Long live the Shah. #بازگشت_به_آینده
