There is a chapter in the history book of my life that holds a pain many people share. I was a son who loved his family, especially his mother. But… in her last days, I was miles and miles away from her… I always used to say, “When I grow up, when I’m strong and rich, I’ll take care of my family, my father and mother. I’ll repay a little of all they’ve done for me…” And so quickly it became too late. That chance never came. Now you, reading this book… Do you still have the chance? If you do, know that tomorrow may be too late. So show your love… For example: “Hello, Mom.” “Hello, my boy. How are you, sweetheart? How are the kids?” “We’re good, Mom…” “Thank God.” “Mom, don’t make dinner tonight. I’ll pick you up and we’ll go to the liver-kebab place.” P.S. The last video I have of my mother was taken when she went to a liver-kebab place with my father and sister. It was raining, she had such a good time, and my sister filmed them laughing so much… My fellow Iranian, my dear one, my friend, a piece of my own flesh: There will always be the race to make a living, the fight to survive, an argument over a parking spot, shouting because there’s no money in the bank, a falling-out because someone missed a wedding. None of it is worth even one moment of forgetting to love. Don’t let being swallowed up by life take you away from life itself…
