My king… Sit beside me a while, so I can talk to you. Let me ask what you did to my heart. What made me so devoted to you? Do you know that every time I see a photograph of you, pain, sighs, and tears fill my whole being? Do you know what your absence has done to this poor heart of mine? What kind of man were you? Who were you? My king… our Iran aches because you are not here. Your head was always held high because you know what you did for this land. Mine hangs low because I know what we failed to do for it. My king… the breath in my chest dances toward flight, and its music is the sound of solidarity. My king, I ask only one thing of you, one thing alone. Forgive me. Long live the Shah.
