A reflection for my Shah, @PahlaviReza I opened my eyes in a world beneath a dark sky. They told me rain meant mercy and peace. The rain fell for years, and grief settled in my heart. One by one, the dusty roads of my hope turned to mud and vanished. Day and night hardly differed. In silence, or beneath the rain's insistent drumming, I had grown used to it. Until, one day, light broke through the clouds. It cast a strange warmth on my ground, on my heart. And I understood: it was the sun that brought me peace and mercy. Since then I have called the sun the crown of the sky. Since then I have known that light will overcome darkness. Nothing has seemed ordinary since. Once you have found the light, darkness holds neither terror nor meaning. My Shah, I am Iranian. My country is drowning in sorrow. I entrust this land, this heart, this life to you, because you are light, and the crown of dignity rests upon your head. Long live Iran. Forever #جاویدشاه
