My Iran… hold on… Your freedom is close… Hold on as you hear your people’s bones breaking… Hold on through your parched soil and the water shortages… I know they sold even your tears… Hold on. I know you miss your king… I know you miss the sound of laughter from deep in the heart. Hold on… My Iran, hold on. You have suffered such cruelty… I know you are tired… I know they have strewn garbage across your face, and not a day goes by without your children searching through it for a living… I know it hurts when pieces of you are set on fire, and hurts still more when your people burn… Hold on… I know you can no longer bear the burning hearts of mothers who have seen their children hanged… My Iran… Hold on. The light will shine on you at last… And we will set you free… Long live Iran. Long live the Shah.
